My Profile

I am a postdoctoral researcher in climate law at the Lisbon Public Law Research Centre, University of Lisbon, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).

My current research project focuses on the international protection of persons in the context of sea-level rise. It is funded by the Postdoc.Mobility Grant of the SNSF

I am also a research fellow at the World Trade Institute (WTI), and the Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research (OCCR) of the University of Bern. I am a fully qualified member of the Istanbul Bar.

I hold a Ph.D. in Law (WTI, University of Bern, 2022), an LL.B. eq. (University of Istanbul, 2016), an LL.M. (University of Toronto, 2014), and an LL.B. Hons. (LSE, 2013).  This background equips me to conduct research across diverse legal systems, including civil law and common law jurisdictions.

My areas of expertise include

climate law,

sustainability & ESG law,

international environmental law,

international human rights law,

international migration & refugee law, and

general public international law.

I have conducted legal research using

primary research methods (field research, in-depth expert interviews, empirical legal research including database search),

secondary research methods (doctrinal search, desk review), and

case studies (EU, Pacific Island States, Portuguese-speaking African States).
